Current Issue -
"Managing Recreational Impacts on Natural Resources" - Workshop from 8:30
AM to 12:30 PM at Northwest Park in Windsor, CT
The program will outline the major
impacts of recreational uses on our CT Environment. Types of recreation,
numbers of people involved, and new technologies used are all increasing. This
creates growing demands on our natural resources. Speakers will help students
understand the challenge of balancing and managing these competing interests.

December 8, 2007 – Wildlife Workshop from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Sessions Woods WMA in Burlington, CT
There will be
many learning opportunities, with both indoors and outdoors activities that
include viewing new wildlife exhibits, collections of mammal skins, bird mounts,
and skulls. There will be interpretive field walks to look at wildlife sign
and habitat management practices.

February 9, 2008 – Aquatics Workshop & Map Reading Workshop from 8:30 AM to 1:00
PM at Yale University in New Haven, CT
Learn about, handle, and identify everything from curly leafed pondweed to flat headed mayflies to Atlantic rock crabs. Use ID keys to get up close and personal with fish, insects, crustaceans and their friends.

March 29, 2008 – Forestry Workshop & Soils Workshop from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM at
University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT
Work with
forestry professionals to discover this truly renewable resource and estimate
its commercial and environmental value. Read the story the forest tells.
Study soils -
from the ground up. Work
with soil scientists to learn more about the importance of soils in natural
resource management. You will get your hands dirty!!
May 15, 2008 Thursday – Field Day Competition from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM at
Northwest Park in Windsor, CT.
Registration begins at 7:45.
Northwest Park
will host an interesting event on their 400+ extensively used acres.
